Future Policing: Safety Without Force?
This event explores the politicization of policing, police-minority relations, cross-cultural communication and critical perspectives through a presentation and group discussion with experts, activists, policy makers and more. Drawing from recent research on police encounters with ethnic minorities in Iceland, the organizer will share insights into discrimination, hate speech, and the lived experiences of marginalized communities.
The event also serves as a hub for strategizing among researchers, activists, and community members, focusing on diversity, and community building. Participants will explore sustainable ways to amplify their work—through initiatives like zines or partnerships with institutions—and create a supportive forum to drive change and introduce broader collaborative research opportunities.
No participation fee, all welcome.
This event is a part of the Future Festival of Reykjavík City Library. See the full program of Future Festival HERE.
