BLINDSPOT | Exhibition Opening

Laugardagur 13. mars 2021

The group exhibition Blindspot opens on March 13th in conjunction with the European Action Week Against Racism. Blindspot, curated by Daría Sól Andrews (IS), is a rotating exhibition series in which the artists' work will be experienced at various library locations.

It presents film, photography, and installation work by Salad Hilowle (SE), Nayab Ikram (FI), Hugo Llanes (IS) and Claire Paugam (IS). More about the artists here.

Conversations about microaggressions, cultural exclusion, and systemic racism are uncomfortable, avoided, overlooked; we place these confronting realities in a personal blindspot. The artists in this exhibition offer a unique perspective on their lived experiences as well as a place of confrontation, a potential to shift our viewpoints.

During the opening of the exhibition, the curator and two exhibiting artists will be present to talk about their work. On this occasion we will present the work of each exhibiting artist in the Reykjavik City Library Grófin and introduce the various locations at which their work can be experienced during the month long exhibition.
