BORGARBÓKASAFNIÐ

All about the make-a-thek project.
Let’s Make Use of Every Thread
On the occasion of European Week for Waste Reduction, which will take place from November 22–30, the Gerðuberg City Library is calling for all long-forgotten leftover yarn, half-finished knitting projects, old knitted garments, and anything related to handicrafts that needs a new home.
Materials can be brought to both the library and Freeshop in Gerðuberg.
At the end of the week, a true knitting party will be held at the library, where guests can grab delicious balls of yarn and discover new, creative ways to connect all the threads in fun projects.
The Textile Bar will visit us, introduce their activities, and offer various exciting things to enjoy during the Advent season.
The newest handicraft books will be on display, and there will be hot coffee available for those who want to enjoy a cozy moment in good company.
We warmly welcome you!
The Reykjavík City Library is participating in a three-year international project called Make-a-thek. The aim of the project is to create a platform for creative and forward-thinking consumers (prosumers), where knowledge is shared and we learn together new methods, for example in textile repair, and explore various crafts and techniques. This is a journey, and the destination is shaped by the participation of as many people as possible. The project is funded by the European Union. Learn more at: Makeathek.eu
