Our Facilities

The library is located in a bright and welcoming space on the second floor of the building . Although private rooms are not available, the library is an ideal place for small groups to meet up. We have coffee, and we have newspapers, magazines, and books to flip through. There is ample seating, including cosy sofas and chairs, as well as tables for those who want to study or work on their computer. The library offers free access to computers and Wi-Fi, and it’s possible to print, photocopy or scan documents for a small fee.

The Sewing Corner is a fun place to create patterns, sew, and mend. We have two regular sewing machines and one overlock machine. Those who use the sewing machines are expected to be mostly self-sufficient, but if you need assistance we host events once a month where guests get help with the sewing machine. The events are advertised in the event schedule. It is possible to book the sewing machines online.

Exhibitions and event hosting at Árbær

Artists can apply to exhibit their work or put on an event through our website. The Reykjavik City Library exhibition committee meets regularly to review and respond to applications. The committee reserves the right to define and shape the library exhibitions based on the focus of the events calendar at the time, and it accepts applications accordingly.

The wall
