The library is closed

Reykjavík City Library will be closed from Tuesday March 24th due to increased restrictions in the current ban on gatherings, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. We will reopen as soon as the ban is lifted.

All return dates which fall on this period will be automatically pushed back until after the ban has been lifted.

Books and other library items will collect no late fees during this period.

To contact the library you can use the online chat in the lower right corner of this website, send us a message here or on Facebook, or call +354 411 6100. The phone will be open weekdays from 10-16.

As before you can renew your loans, renew your library card or register for a new library card here on the website.

This announcement will be updated with info on the library's activity during this time.

We remind you that Rafbókasafnið, the e-library, is always open and accessible to all patrons who have a valid library card. Digital books have their advantages! They can be read or listend to on your computer or on your smart device via the Libby app. See how to access and use the e-library here.
