Informal Learning Spaces

ráðstefna

On October 20th, 2026, a Nordic conference on workplace learning was held in Iceland, bringing together professionals engaged in adult education and lifelong learning across the Nordic region.

The primary focus of the conference was workplace learning as a central element of lifelong learning — across both the public and private sectors. The programme explored how organisations develop learning internally, how competencies are supported and renewed in everyday work, and how local and national educational institutions contribute through professional support, partnerships, and innovation.

Two project managers from the Reykjavik City Library, Fanny Sissoko and Martyna Karolina Daniel, contributed to the conference programme with a workshop about the Future Festival where participants were asked to explore their memories through their senses and then discuss what skills and learning experiences those memories evoked.

The workshop emphasized the need for informal learning spaces where learning can happen reciprocally as an embodied experience.
