BORGARBÓKASAFNIÐ

Þorkell Már Ingólfsson, a specialist at Árbær City Library, is a great enthusiast of history.
Þorkell reads extensively during vacations and while traveling abroad. He often buys a book at the airport duty-free shop to read on the flight out and another from a good bookstore abroad to read on the journey home. When asked to suggest a good holiday read, he chooses the book Ragnarök.
“I read all kinds of books during vacations and travels. For example, history books such as Ragnarök by Reverend Þórhallur Heimisson. I often read longer books during the winter, since I can spend several weeks with each one. In the summer, I tend to choose shorter reads.”
What sparked your interest in this book by Reverend Þórhallur?
“Þórhallur’s book is particularly interesting because it deals with the major battles of human history. Unfortunately, this is a timeless subject, as the state of the world today clearly demonstrates.”
Þorkell says that he has generally always been interested in history, especially military history, since “such matters are constantly on the agenda,” unfortunately.
Do you have a favorite author?
“My favorite author is Lee Child, and I’m also interested in good history books, for example about the Crusades, to name just one topic.”
Do you have a memorable or favorite summer reading memory?
“I have a great summer reading memory of Lee Child’s Persuader, which I bought at the airport duty-free and read in Paris,” says Þorkell and also recommends Crusaders: An Epic History of the Wars for the Holy Lands by Dan Jones.
