BORGARBÓKASAFNIÐ

Reykjavík City Library recently received a book donation from Anh Ngoc, a student at Kvennaskólinn í Reykjavík, who hopes to inspire children and young people to take an interest in science and technology.
Anh Ngoc, a student at Reykjavík Junior College (Kvennaskólinn í Reykjavík), has recently been donating a book to libraries in the hope of reaching young aspiring scientists.
Anh has long been passionate about STEM subjects and founded the initiative “STEM for the Future”, which aims to spark young people’s interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The project received funding from the City of Reykjavík and EFLA to offer science workshops for children at libraries across the Capital Region.
Anh also wrote the book Adventures in the Science Forest, which follows three animals who use their STEM knowledge to create fun inventions and tools. The book is divided into three chapters, and at the end of each chapter readers can access helpful videos demonstrating how to make the featured inventions themselves.
The accompanying photograph was taken when Anh visited Grófi City Library bearing gifts. From left: Barbara Guðnadóttir, Library Manager; Anh, the author of the book, and Anna Magnúsdóttir Eirúnardóttir, Children’s Services Specialist at Grófin City Library.
The book will soon be available for borrowing from the libraries.
