Get Your Laufey Library Card on 23 August

Sunday, 23 August, marks the annual celebration of A Very Laufey Day, celebrated by fans around the world. To mark the occasion, fans of Laufey can pick up a special Laufey library card at Reykjavík City Library in Grófin.

The cards are part of a reading initiative created in collaboration between Reykjavík City Library and The Laufey Book Club, Laufey’s hugely popular Instagram book club.

Through the book club, Laufey shares some of her favourite books. To celebrate A Very Laufey Day, a selection of her recommended titles will be on display at the following library branches:

• Grófin City Library
• Kringlan City Library
• Sólheimar City Library
• Úlfarsárdalur City Library

How do the Laufey library cards work?

The Laufey library card works exactly like a regular Reykjavík City Library card.

• An annual Reykjavík City Library membership costs ISK 3,300. The same fee applies to the Laufey library card.
• If you would like to exchange your current library card for a Laufey card, the replacement fee is ISK 1,500.
• The card is valid at all Reykjavík City Library branches.
• Children and young people aged 18 and under, as well as adults aged 67 and over, receive a library card free of charge.
