So Much More Than Just Ludo!
Come, try, and discover the diverse world of board games!

The world of board games is far bigger than Scrabble, Monopoly, and Ludo. Each year, over 5,000 new board games are published. Every game works in its own unique way, but many share certain core mechanics with others.

This winter, board game enthusiast Tryggvi Björgvinsson brings something new and exciting to the library in Úlfarsárdalur: weekly board game nights for adults (16+), every Wednesday from 7.30-9.30 pm.

Tryggvi, a devoted board gamer from Grafarholt, has been playing since childhood. Today he owns a collection so large that he could play a different game every single day of the year.

Each month, Tryggvi will introduce a different board game mechanic and explain how it works. Each week, participants will then play a game that highlights that mechanic. This way, players can discover which mechanics they enjoy most and what kind of games suit them best.

The library will offer a cozy atmosphere where players can grab a coffee, settle in at the tables, and play games from Tryggvi’s extensive collection.

Practical Information

  • To begin with, registration is required to participate – you can register further down on this page. Those who attend will get priority registration for the following game night.
  • Games will be set up for 4 players each week, but if interest grows the format may be revised.
  • It is not necessary to have the same players each time, but note: at the beginning of the month, the games are easier to learn, and the difficulty increases as the month progresses.
  • If you’re curious but not ready to join yet, you’re welcome to stop by and observe.
