Exhibition | Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir
Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir recent book art is showcased, but she has been involved in book making and painting for over 30 years. The books are of various kinds, both individual works and some printed in more copies. Sigurborg uses a variety of methods in bookmaking, such as drawings, painting, cutting and photography. Some of the books contain texts that sometimes have political references, but are often only aesthetic or ridiculous.
Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir studied art at Skolen for Brugskunst - Danmarks designskole in Copenhagen (now KADK) 1982-1987 and graduated from the school's drawing and graphics department. She has also taken part in various courses, e.g. in the United States, Japan and Mexico.
She worked for a number of years as a teacher at the Icelandic School of Fine Arts and Crafts and the Iceland Academy of the Arts, but now works exclusively on her own art, both paintings and books. Sigurborg has held over thirty private exhibitions and participated in a number of group exhibitions.
