About the Sólheimar Library

Menningarhús Sólheimar

Come visit us!

Sólheimar is the first of The Reykjavik City Library’s locations to be specifically designed and built as a library. The Sólheimar library is small, (at) roughly 200 square meters, and welcoming, with neighbourhood residents visiting frequently. We focus on serving the children in the neighbourhood with story and family time. Every now and then we also host events for grownups.

Despite its small size, the library has a rather diverse collection. Guests can access a computer and printer for a small fee, and there is free WI-FI for those who choose to bring their own computer. The library offers a comfortable space to sit down and flip through newspapers, books, or magazines—and the coffee pot is always on!
