Pikknikk in Gerðuberg
The first picnic of the year took place in Gerðuberg, where people from Seljagarður urban farmers - offered coffee and cakes and a nourishing conversation about growing in the city. This year Seljagarður has its 10th birthday and we lit candles and sang Happy birthday together.
Enthusiastic gardeners joined the picnic and Seljagarður introduced their contribution to the Seed Library and future collaboration with the library. Urban planning and green areas in the city were one of the topics people wanted to engage in. Accessibility issues were raised concerning, for example, the height of the plant beds and mobility within greenhouses for people who use wheelchairs or other supports. The height of beds and the possibility to grow and keep their garden was also discussed, as well as the importance of being able to keep your gardening spot for more than one season.
