Children's Culture Festival | Bubble-Making Workshop at Lækjartorg

Friday May 14th 2021

Have you ever wondered how street artists and YouTubers create giant soap bubbles?
Anna and Kalli from Reykjavík Tool Library and Reykjavik City Library Makerspace are teaming up to teach you everything you need to know to bring the joy of bubble-making to your next (socially distanced) get-together, backyard grill, picnic at the park, or party on the sidewalk.

In this outdoor workshop we’ll look at which bubble formulas work best in Icelandic weather, build bubble wands from recycled materials, and darken the skies over Lækjartorg with an invasion of ginormous glittering globules of glee.

The workshop will a part of the Children's Culture Festival and held outside the Greenhouse at Lækjartorg. We will have enough materials for eight participants to mix at once, so be sure to sign up early!  Family and friends of those registered are welcome to watch and take turns in the bubble-making afterwards, but we ask everyone to maintain a safe distance from one another, take turns, and use gloves and masks when possible.  Giant soap bubbles are known to draw crowds as well as children who want to try it out themselves!

If weather doesn't permit bubble-making, we'll shorten the workshop and go over the basics so you can make your formula at home in better conditions.

All ages are welcome!

The Reykjavik City Library is hosting a pop-up library event at the Greenhouse on Lækjartorg from the 3rd - 15th of May. For the duration of the event we welcome everyone to stop by and learn about the variety of services that the city‘s six library branches offer every day. Join us in a celebration of summer for at the library we share so more than just books.
