Comics Workshop: Gender Expression

Laugardagur 23. janúar 2021

Due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions, the number of participants is limited to 15.

Please book at the bottom of this page.

This workshop is both for adults and teens.

To celebrate the graphic novel Brazen : Rebel Ladies Who Rocked the World being published in Icelandic (AM Forlag) under the title Eldhugar, The Icelandic Comics Society is hosting a comics course based on the project! This graphic novel was written by Pénélope Bagieu and originally published in French in 2016 under the title Les Culottés: Des Femmes Qui ne Font Que ce Qu’elles Veulent.

During this workshop we'll be exploring the power of comics as a method of self-expression, especially when it comes to gender expression, sexuality and other things that are often so important to us.

We will meet on the 5th floor of the City Library Grófin and screen 5 short films from the Brazen cartoons before the workshop starts. The cartoons are in French with Icelandic subtitles and the workshop will be held in English and Icelandic.

This event is part of a program developed with the French Embassy and Alliance Française de Reykjavik, with the support of Reykjavik UNESCO City of Literature.
