This  writing workshop is a collaboration between the Reykjavik City Library and Sögur. In this workshop children at the age of 9-12 years old will get the chance to write their own short story with guidance by the children book writer, Arndís Þórarinsdóttir.

In this 2 hour  workshop Arndís will teach the basics of how to write short stories, she will also give some tips on how to find inspiration. The children can send their short stories they´ve written for feedback to Arndís, before they send it of to the Sögur competition.

We encourage the children to send their short stories to the Sögur competition, which you can do on KrakkaRÚV website. Fifty stories will be chosen by a jury and will be published in an electronic book Risastórar smásögur, published by Menntamálastofnun. Two writers will get an award on the Sögur festival which will take place next spring. The Sögur festival will be aired live on RÚV.

Arndís Þórarinsdóttir is one of the authors of the award winning book Blokkin á heimsenda. She has also written several other childrens books. Arndís has a degree in literatary studies and a Masters degree in creative writing.
