ATTENTION, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED!

In honor of Intersex Awareness Day, Snærós Sindradóttir, journalist at RÚV (Icelandic National Broadcasting Service), and Ármann Jakobsson, professor in Old Icelandic Literature at the University of Iceland, will discuss a remarkable archeological excavation in Finland that indicates that an iron age leader was both intersex and non-binary. They will also discuss the significance of the discovery with regard to the status of gender in the Middle Ages in Iceland and its appearance in Njála, Snorri-Edda and Heimskringla.
