This writing and illustration workshop is a collaboration between the Reykjavik City Library and Sögur. In this workshop children will get the chance to make their own short story with guidance by the children book writer, Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir.

The workshop will take place on two Sundays, 2nd and 9th of October

Please register on sumar.vala.is

Program:
2nd of October: Bergrún Íris goes through the basics in writing and illustrating short stories.
Between workshops we encourage the children to work on their short story
9th of October: Bergrún Íris gives further instructions for writing and illustration and the children give their stories the finishing touch.

We encourage the children to send their short stories to the Sögur competition, which you can do on KrakkaRÚV website. Twenty stories will be chosen by a jury and will be published in an electronic book Risastórar smásögur, published by Menntamálastofnun. Two writers will get an award on the Sögur festival which will take place next spring. The Sögur festival will be aired live on RÚV.

Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir is an award-winning children's book author. She has written over 20 children's books and illustrated numerous more children's books. She has held numerous writing workshops for children all over the country and worked with the Directorate of Education on educational videos on creative writing.
