Old Books, New Art | Workshop

Saturday November 13th 2021

What can we do with all the old, dusty books that are lingering in our attics, drawers, nooks, and crannies? How can we transform them into works of art? We invite children and their families to come together for an exciting workshop where we’ll learn about simple ways to make several types of art from books.

A link to register for the workshop is at the bottom of this page.

And, as luck would have it, the scavenger hunt and exhibition Your Very Own Library Mystery is made up of thousands of books that many of our patrons have dug out of their attics and garages and donated to us. From them, we’ve created an entire world built upon nothing more than old books of all sizes and shapes. And the outcome is a quite sight to see!

We recommend registering your family to take part in an exciting scavenger hunt that’s open to all. HERE you can learn more about the dates and times that are available and sign up for the game.

The set and exhibition will remain open until April 30, 2022 during the normal operating hours of Gerðuberg Library.

Our host for this workshop will be Hildigunnur Sigvaldadóttir, student in Art Education at the Icelandic Art University and illustrator. Hildigunnur was active in installing the exhibition at Gerðuberg.
