Come visit us!

The library has a diverse collection. We have newspaper subscriptions  and recommend reading the newspaper or latest magazines over a steaming hot cup of coffee in our bright room on the first floor. You're welcome to use the library's facilities as you please – to hang out, meet other people or host events. We put on lots of exhibitions at Spöngin and offer an exciting program of events for all ages: concerts, lectures, workshops and more!

Our children‘s department offers books in Icelandic, English and Polish. Children‘s book in various other languages can be found at our other libraries, and can be reserved to pick up at any location. See an overview of the languages found in our children‘s departments.

Location and directions

We are located in a beautiful building at Spöngin 41, close to a variety of shops and services. In addition to the area residents, our neighbors at the Borgarholtskóli and Borgir schools visit the library frequently. Buses no. 6, 7 and 24 stop at Spöngin. For more information, visit straeto.is.
