Users can reserve material and pick it up at the nearest library!

We're happy to be the bearer of good news during these times of hardship. Even though we had to close our libraries until the 3rd of November, that doesn't mean that the citizens of Reykjavík must stop reading or enjoying themselves! We now invite users to reserve materials at our webpage, or by phone, and pick it up at a library of their choice.

The time of pickup is weekdays between 10am -4pm. Users are contacted by e-mail or phone when materials are ready to be picked up.

How do I reserve and pick up material?

It's simple! You find the book you want to read, the music you want to listen to, the magazines, sheet music or movie of your choice and make a reservation online. See further instructions. We encourage users to use the webpage to make reservations, but you're welcome to call 411 6100 if you need help.

- If the material is available, the library staff will collect it, borrow it in your name and contact you by e-mail or telephone when it's ready for delivery.

- If the material is available, but not at the library of your choice, we will deliver it there and inform you when it's ready to be picked up.

- If the material is not available, we will put you on a waiting list and let you know as soon as it's available and ready at the library of your choice.

What do I do when I come to the library?

Don't forget your phone! At the entrance of each library there will be a phone number to call. A member of the staff will bring out the disinfected library material in a bag, and you can return home, carefree, and get carried away into the world of literature or other fun.

Users are welcome to return material to the library when getting new material.

Don't hesitate to contact us by phone 411 6100  or on  Facebook Messenger if you have any questions.

We're at your service!
