BIÐ | Photo exhibition
Grófin Culture House
14/10 - 5/11
Opening: 14. október kl. 15
The photography exhibition BIÐ is the result of a cooperative project between the
Red Cross in Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær, Reykjavík City Library and Reykjavík City Museum, the purpose of which was to give individuals in search of international protection a chance to express themselves through photography. Red Cross volunteers also took part in the project.
During the past three months, the group took part in a series of workshops with
photographer and Red Cross volunteer Ragnar Visage and sought inspiration, for example, from visits to the Reykjavík Museum of Photography and National Museum of Iceland. The project was run on a minimal budget with participants using their camera phones.
The images provide a window into the daily life of those who are waiting for their asylum applications to be processed.
Some of the participants have been deported from Iceland. Their images are not part of this exhibition.
